My friend and long time collaborator Ash Thorp wanted to capture live action plates of his designs for the Animus so that the graphics elements would sit harmoniously in Justin Kurzel’s film Assassin’s Creed. We set up a 4k display and pushed pre-rendered Quicktimes on a Mac Pro. I filmed all of these animations on my personal camera at the time, a Red CF Dragon 6k. The content captured was used directly in the film to create a natural and organic look for the shots of the Animus screens.
